STRAY/WARD marriage 1816
« on: Thursday 14 November 24 16:39 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for more details on the marriage of my 4 times great grandparents John Stray and Elizabeth Ward in 1816, I have found their banns but obviously too early for a marriage certificate. I am trying to find a way to identify the next generation back or even where John Stray was born as the 1841 census says he was not born in county, so in which case where? There is a John Stray on HMS Mars at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805 from Devon but I cant find a record of his birth or a link to 'my' John Stray to confirm they are the same person. My John Stray was in the navy so it is possibly the same person.

I think we were posting at the same time, looks like I will need to renew my subscription to Find my past but not sure whether there will be any further information as it wont be a marriage certificate in 1816, the banns don't give much information, I was hoping for a father's name to help narrow down if he is the Nottingham family or from Devon

You did not need to renew a sub on FindMyPast, apparently you can pay individually for images
