I know these books have been out a while, but I've never got round to reading any.

I've ordered myself a few from different authors to give them a go after reading this thread.

The Marriage Certificate - Stephen Molyneux
Family Secrets - Beth Farrar
Hiding the Past - Nathan Dylan Goodwin
Thee Times Removed - M. K. Jones

Any suggestions with which to start with?

Hiding the past might be a good one to start with, then if you like it you can cary on with that series, they often come up at 99p on Kindle.

I liked The Marriage Certificate when I eventually read it. I sent for a secondhand paperback copy during the lockdown as I couldn't seem to find it on Kindle. When I started reading it I found that a previous owner had written lots of pencil notes in the margins and at the back of the book. It was really spoiling my enjoyment so I went through and rubbed them all out before continuing. Quite some time after that, maybe a year or more, I was looking through my Kindle purchases for something else and found that I'd actually bought it years before!  ;D
I've also read and enjoyed The Death Certificate by the same author.

I've a feeling I've read something by MK Jones but can't remember what. Not sure if I've read anything by Beth Farrar.

Thank you! Nathan is the only one I had heard of - so I think it would make sense to start with him.

This won't be until early January as I haven't finished my current book yet.

Oh dear! That reminds me of a book I got when I was 9 or 10 with some 'interesting' annotations to the pictures within! :o

Hiding the past is a good one to start with. It's the first one in the Morton Farrier series and although each book has a self contained story there is a background story which runs through the series so it's good to read them in order.  I also enjoy the Jayne Sinclair Genealogical books by M J Lee
Happy reading!

I agree with Roobarb and Chrissie, Hiding The Past is a good one to start with.  It was the first Nathan Dylan Goodwin book I read and it got me hooked on the Morton Farrier series.

I haven't read The Marriage Certificate by Stephen Molyneux, but my Kindle tells me I have partially read one of his other books, The Death Certificate.  I seem to remember I was enjoying it but must have got distracted by another book, I must get back to it.

I haven't read anything by Beth Farrar or M. K. Jones.

If you enjoy the Morton Farrier series I think you will also like the Jefferson Tayte series by Steve Robinson.

Thank you, both. I think Hiding the Past must be the one to start with.

Someone got me the paper back version of Hiding The Past for Christmas.  I have never read anything by this author before and I must say I am really enjoying it.
I bet a lot of us on here would give our eye teeth to be a 'forensic genealogist'. ;)
