Even if you have three statutory registers of birth death and marriage they may not quite agree and there may be a question as to the reliability of an informant's information.
One simple example came to me recently, showing that the subject clearly remembered her birthday but forgot which year it was.  The 1939 register gave 2 Oct 1880 while her birth was registered as 2 Oct 1878.  One of the missing years had already gone at her marriage aged 20/21.

Other family trees can link to your tree, but no, family trees can not be added to your tree.  Only you choose what is added to your tree.
