Evans/Vale
« on: Monday 28 October 24 04:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to find any information on the family of Richard Evans 1805-1872 England - NZ.
His parents were James Evans and Mercy.  I believe Mercys last name might be Shaw.  Richard had a sister Sarah born 1808.  I have the descendants of Richard and his wife Jane Vale but have a complete mess with his siblings, parents and families.
They all originated from England and some came to NZ and some stayed.
Possible siblings for Richard but not confirmed:
James William b29 Mar 1790
George 1794-1874 mar Ann Heffer
Samuel Edward 1800-1873 mar Margaret S. Evans
Henry 1802-bef 1851
Robert 1803-1862 mar Ann Wood.
Any help to confirm anything would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ange

See page 3 of that thread

I am not 100% convinced that Richard who married Jane Vale is the son of James & Mercy

Hello
The Holborn lying in record gives Mercy Evans aged 28 years in 1795 so born 1767
This may be her out in Chichester
Mercy Stanford 24.3.1767 d of Richard and Mercy Standford
sister Sally 27.5.1768
brothers Richard 30.8.1770 and Charles 1.4.1773 at Petworth. Mercy the mother buried 2.10.1774
The parents Richard Standford and Mercy Silverlock married 24.6.1765 at Chichester.

Possible burial for Mercy Evans  St Pancras 25.6.1837 aged 70 years of College St Westminster.
James seems to be buried at Lambeth st Mary's 6.8.1824 age 54 years from the Workhouse (George St crossed out). So born 1770.

Daughter Mercy seems to have married John Couch 24.5.1819 St Mary le Strand He was a revenue officer.Son John bapt Shoreditch 12.7.1821

Thank You so much for your help.  I guess my next step is to try and confirm the parents and Aunts/Uncles if any of Richard who married Jane Vale.  There is confusion over whether his father is Richard or James.
