Did he leave a Will?

 You might find a burial request there;  one of my gt.aunts left a request to have her ashes placed in her mother's grave.  Gt. aunt died in Somerset but her mother's grave was in Kent.  Only discovered that by buying a copy of her Will (£1.50).

We have a copy of Critchley's will but there's no mention of any requests relating to the burial or laying of the ashes.

If he wasn't married, he might have been buried in a family grave with his parents. Strange though - in view of all the records around for Lancashire burials, that we can't find him.

Incidentally, Deceased on Line, which covers the Blackburn Cemeteries, does include cremations - so it doesn't seem that he was buried or cremated at those cemeteries.

Have you found his parents' burials please?

Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

We havent found Critchley's parents burial place but Critchley Almonds parents are Richard & Mary Almond who lived in Blackburn.
Richard was born in 1828 & died 21 March 1899, Mary was born in 1826 & died in 1902 both in Blackburn.

Deceased Online shows the burial in Lancashire of a Richard Almond on 25th March 1899 and of a Mary Almond in Lancashire on 20th February 1902.

IsobelB - I have sent you a personal message.

For all interested - Critchley isn't with his parents.

I am beginning to wonder - because he died during WW1 - did some record keeping go awry during that awful period.

Maybe some of the burial records have been lost during the war period, it would be interesting to know if anyone has any comments on this subject.
