Biggles wrote "There is no link between Roots Magic Essentials and any other online website, RME is basically a read only app."

Per the Manager of Rootsmagic Support "RootsMagic Essentials (free version) will do a full download of the Ancestry tree, including media".

This appeared on Facebook 6 years ago when Treeshare was introduced and has not been changed.

I've just looked at Firefox My History and the link worked then.

This is what it said:

Quote
Click "File > Export GEDCOM" from the RootsMagic menu. Choose to Export Selected People. RootsMagic will bring up a list of people in the database. Click the "Clear people" button and choose whatever option you want to clear the people you don't want in your database anymore (ancestors, descendants, etc).

well, that proved easier than I thought, I downloaded the GEDCOM file to my desktop as suggested by Gadget #5, then just uploaded it to FindMyPast, it was THAT straightforward, why I got Roots Magic involved I'm not sure, I think I got confused by just opening a GEDCOM file and the download/upload process.
Anyway, its in FindMyPast and seems to be working fine.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and assistance, its what this site is all about.

Glad you are now sorted.

As a side matter, I have the full version of Roots Magic which is well worth buying.

I use it as a Backup to my Ancestry trees, it uses its Tree Share feature to compare the Ancestry tree with the tree within the App and performs a download of the changes which I then go through and incorporate into the App.

Additionally Roots Magic has tree checking features which are very useful.
