Thomas James Fox - Parachute Regiment, A.A.C.
« on: Friday 25 October 24 03:12 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys Trying to track down any info on Thomas James Fox born 1869 Norfolk married to a Rosina Rose in 1890 particularly a death I have a date of 1947 but no source to confirm. I did merge a file (can't find the location) and found that the description in the death entry referred to Parachute Regiment, A.A.C. but that could be a mistake

Initially the Parachute Battalions (later Regiment) were formed as a branch within the Army Air Corps, along with the  Glider Pilot Regiment, Air Landing Regiments and the air observation post squadrons. The Army Air Corps was not formed until 1942, when Thomas Fox would have been aged 73, so he would have been far too old to have served with them.

I think this is your Thomas James FOX in Colorado

1930 USA census
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X74V-DX6
Immigration year to USA given as 1899.

1920 USA census

1910 USA census

His occupation as a bricklayer in the USA agrees with his occupation in English records.
Wife, Rosina Rose is Head of household in both 1901 and 1911 English census.

This could possibly be your Rosina, even though her last child was born in 1900:

Bromley & District Times,  issue 07 February 1896

No Rose Without a Thorn
Rose Fox applied for a separation summons against her husband, James Thomas Fox, a bricklayer
of Westbourne-grove, Bexley Heath.  Her husband, she said, assaulted her on Monday and Tuesday.
The application was granted.

In 1921 and 1939, she still lists herself as married, so no formal divorce occurred perhaps.

Just checking through the info received and I have a query
There is a photo of a headstone of Thomas Fox in England and one of Thomas fox in Colorado - ???
the USA census suggest that Thomas and Rosina emigrated to the states and the separation summons seems ok
A comment was made
"This could possibly be your Rosina, even though her last child was born in 1900" suggests that she had a child after the summons

Does that sound ok - do you think that one of the burials is wrong - the burial in colorado is very hard to read if the parachute regmt was in the uk I favour the headstone one in England

Would appreciate your comments - what you have found so far is very good

Have you read the information in the above posts?

The man in the parachute regiment was born in 1926, so cannot be the man you are looking for.

Thomas emigrated to the USA, but Rosina did not. She stayed in England. The marriage failed - they separated.

Rosina’s child born in 1900 might have had a different father (not Thomas). You would need to look at her date of birth, and his date of emigration to clarify this.
