Am still drawing blanks on this after trying to connect and sleuthing.

Am focusing efforts on trying to find the 1st marriage children's marriages to see if any of them have father deceased at that date. Maybe this will rule John/Thomas Rees being the same man or not. If the later, it's then working out how both sets of children are my relatives as we have photos of both and know they are from my Gu's (grans) side of the family.

Am going to go over it again. There is a possibility of a mix up but am not sure.
Margaret Sims had a sister Ann Sims who married a Thomas Rees b.1849 as you said on 1881 living next door. But as far as I'm aware they only had 4 children;
John b.1872
Hopkin b.1873
Elizabeth b.1876
Thomas Edward b.1880

Happy to be proven wrong to get to the truth though. There are too many Rees

I think I'm having a moment of Rees brain fog with too many Rees in my head. That does sound more plausible and correct with the dates and maiden names etc. thank you.
I can work and see bit more clearly now... and sleep better tonight. 
Thomas's 1st marriage 4 children I have information on but John and Margaret's I'm finding difficult to tie down.
