Hope/Brownlie
« on: Saturday 19 October 24 15:56 BST (UK) »
John Hope was born in Govan on the 9 August 1885, his parents were John Hope and Elizabeth McIldowie and his wife Jeanie Margaret Murray Brownlie was born 9 February 1906 in Cathcart, Glasgow to parents George Brownlie (tea agent) and Emily Fairholm.  John and Jeanie or Jean have two children both born in Glasgow.  The family left Prestwick airport on the 15 April 1948 and landed on the 16 April 1948 in New York and set up home at Penn Criag, Quogue, Long Island, New York.

I am looking for any information on this family, especially where John and Jeanie died and where they are buried/cremated

Regards
Oletta

There is a John Hope with that birth date on the SSDI (issued New York) but don't think it is yours.
The California Death Index gives his birth place as South Carolina.

John Hope - Birth Date   9 Aug 1885
Issue year   Before 1951 = Issue State   New York
Last Residence   92020, El Cajon, San Diego, California, USA
Death Date   Jan 1966

California Death Index

John Hope
Birth Date   9 Aug 1885 - Birth Place   South Carolina
Death Date   14 Jan 1966

Sandra

Added Family Search record for California Death Index gives birth place as Scotland !!  So that now looks correct

His obituary says he was age 80, a 12 year resident of the San Diego area, a native of Scotland, and a retired lawyer.  He died Jan. 14 in an El Cajon hospital.  He was survived by 2 daughters, one in El Cajon and one in San Diego, and a son.
