A Matthew Dancey, of ?Crosserlough, Co Cavan Ireland enlisted in 1819 in Cavan aged 21 (apparently) He was a labourer. The record of this is on Ancestry, and they have indexed it as enlisting in the 58th Regiment. The image is from the WO 25/440 series (image 4 of that series from the National Archives). But I'm not even sure if he was enlisted in the 58th - the enlisting officer was a Lieut Thornton. (On the same page, there is also enlisted a Pocerage Dancey fron Monaghan who joined 1822 aged 18 and he did join 58th Regiment).
On the enlistment list it's note that Matthew apparently served from 1820-1822 in either the East or West Indies. I'm trying to find any other records/documents that may show if he was killed in service, or settled in the place of his discharge, or any further service. Any help much appreciated
