Information on "Lloyd and Co" drapers in Liverpool 1870s

Hi. I'm wanting to do a deep dive into the life of my gr gr grandfather John Lloyd. I've found from the Liverpool directories that he had a drapers business in Liverpool based initially at 24 Oxford street and 32 London road: for a while it was "Lloyd, Jones & Co" and then from around 1872 it was just "Lloyd & Co". Wondering where I could find any extra information such as, when did it start and when did it wind up, which other people were involved in it, who joined or dropped out over the years...

If it was an actual limited company there's bound to be some information recorded, but if just a partnership I'm guessing it may be more difficult to find?

There's a wealth of adverts in the newspapers re 24 Oxford St and 32 London Road.
By the early 1880s 32 London Road starts coming up as "The Criterion, 32 London Road" and spotted this in the Liverpool Mercury, 1 May 1884 -

Thanks hanes teulu for the article about John's wife Henrietta, which also confirms her father's name and profession  Thanks also for the other replies: very interesting.

Also found out (see my other post "Can't find a marriage https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=886109.0) that before getting married in 1868, John and Henrietta had, for at least 6 or 7 years, pretended on official records to be married to each other whilst John was (presumably) still married to his first wife. Never thought my Gr Gr Grandfather would turn out to be so fascinating!

EDIT: I've just learnt, on stevelord65's other thread ("Can't find a marriage"), that John Lloyd was born about 1830; so my contribution (reply #11) to that thread was invalid and I'll make another post there to apologise. In the meantime, I've deleted the reference to it that I made in this post; and, in view of John Lloyd's c. 1830 birth, I've also deleted from this post a paragraph above, regarding an 1840 bankruptcy - I doubt there are many 9-10 year old children who go bankrupt!
