Looking for WWII Info on the Swartz Brothers of Virginia/Maryland/D.C.
« on: Sunday 29 September 24 15:33 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Looking for WWII Info on four of my Swartz Granduncles who fought in WWII (beyond what is at FS sources or ACPL Genealogy). Perhaps there is something new in fold 3 or division histories, etc. Here they are:
1) Sgt. Joseph Gibboney Swartz (1910-1975), U.S. Army. Looking to determine his theatre of operations/unit, etc.
2) Lt Col. Carlyle Ochiltree Swartz (1918-1996), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He fought in Europe, trying to determine unit, corps, medals, etc.- also served in Korean Conflict.
3) RM2 Paul Rudolph Swartz (1919-1943), U.S. Navy. Buried at Sea. Served aboard Dutch freighter MS Sommelsdyk, when he died near New Caledonia from illness.
4) Maj. Francis Aubrey Swartz (USAF Ret.) (1924-1996). Before his Korean Conflict service with the Air Force, he was an enlisted U.S. Marine Aviator in China during WWII. This latter part has been difficult to document.
Thank you for all your kind help!
   Brian
