William Hunt Marriage to Mary Annis, Burton Dasset 1713 by License
« on: Wednesday 25 September 24 16:45 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,

We are back in the time where nothing is very certain about our ancestors but I am looking for any information that the license / bond for the above wedding may contain. Is there a source where I might be able to see at least a transcript of the license / bond.

I am examining the possibility that this William may be the same William Hunt who married Elizabeth Clark at Combrook in 1702. Elizabeth died in 1703.

A William and Mary Hunt went on to have a son, also called William Hunt. He was baptised on 5 July 1715 back at Combrook.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Perhaps Warwickshire County Record Office  :-\

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Good Morning
Forgive me for saying so but I don't think he is your man.
William Hunt marrying 1713 to Mary Annis is of Wilscote Cropeady .
And there is a burial for him there 13.8.1729 .

While your William seems to be buried at Combrook 27.10.1736  and Mary 9.5.1760 .
They have children Ann born 8th Sept 1710 bapt 15th . Buried 8.2.1728
                            William 1.7.1715
                             Daniel 4.3.1723

Looking at Worcestershire Bishops Transcripts there is a marriage at Combrook
William Hunt and Mary Warde 1 of ? (perhaps October) 1706

She would be the Mary Ward bapt 30.11.1677 d of Richard and Mary Warde at Combrook.
So 46 when she had her last child and 29 when she married William Hunt.

There are Court Rolls for his son William and his wife Mary (probably Mary Ann )taking over William's property in 1737 and granddaughter Mary Allchuch d of grandson Richard Hunt 1762 at Shakespeares Birthplace.
Earlier stuff for the Hunt family of Combrook are also there.
William Hunt Will 1642 husbandman
William Hunt baker ,Robert Hunt yeoman Combrook bond of indemnity 1665

Robert Hunt has 2 hearths on the 1663 Hearth Tax at Combrook.

While Worcestershire Archives has the interesting
Penance for William Hunt and his wife Elizabeth 1702 for ' antenuptial fornication'.
Probably your William ,that one was a bit of a lad.

Good Morning Cider Drinker,

Wow! I am really grateful for this. I have alternated between Ancestry and FindMyPast over the years and that document has never come up on my searches. Although to be fair, it is probably a couple of years since I have looked at this line. Thanks to you I have now found the Bishop's Transcript on Ancestry and I will have an enjoyable morning researching the rest.
It probably is our William Hunt that had to do the penance because he seems to have married Elizabeth. She died in 1703 though.

ps I did contact Warwickshire County Archives, as suggested by BumbleB and they were very helpful but could not move the matter forward for me.

Sorry Ciderdrinker, I am okay on BMD etc but I am struggling to find sources for the Court Rolls, Bond of Indemnity etc. Are you finding them on Ancestry or Warwickshire or Worcestershire County Archives please?

Good Morning
Sorry I wasn't very helpful there .I looked on the national archives discovery catalogue and the Court Rolls,Bond and Indemnity are on their catalogue but lodges at SHAKESPEARE BIRTHPLACE TRUST.
I've had a look on the Shakespeare Birthplace trust and I'm struggling to find them but here's the entry at the National Archives.

https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_q=hunt+combrook&_p=1700&_p=1600&Refine+dates=Refine

I've not been in touch with the Shakespeare BP archives so I'm not sure how helpful they might be.
They are in the centre of the town but again not actually been in to have a look .
