There's no suggestion of  a change of surname on the 1939 register - she's a bit of a mess as she appears to be listed as Evelyn M with a wildly incorrect dob  and Evelyn H with a more likely dob. The image looks like H and the dob is wrong and corrected in pencil

I have also found a marriage for Evelyn M Harrod marrying a Robert Hockley  1945 1st quarter  Surrey SW and Evelyn M Harrod  marrying a James William Deaves Oct. 1942 N. Walsham, Norfolk .

There are 2 Deaves/Harrod births between 1944-47. Evelyn in 1944 would have been 68, bit late for having children.

There are 3 Hockley/Harrod births between 1947-51, again Evelyn would have been a little old to be having kids.

Evelyn Maud Harrod has been a real challenge from her death cert she was living at Fawsley Hotel,.Sundury Hill,Torquay  on the 10th of May 1951 The person who  filled out the death certificate did not have great penmanship so I am not able to make out all the handwriting. I think she maybe have had heart issues . It says she was a spinster so she was unmarried.
It would be nice to find out more of her life but I guess that is wishful thinking.as I mentioned previously I do not think my grandmother kept in touch with Evelyn once she moved to Canada. My grandmother died when I was 5 years old so never really knew her.. Any help from folks on list will be appreciated.

I have all the early census records for the Harrod family. How does one find out the history for the Fawsley Hotel I have not found anything for this hotel back in 1951 or earlier.. Is there a library near by which might know something. I live in Canada so all my searching must be done from across the pond.
