Hello,

I'm looking for a marriage for Jane Stockdale and Joseph Storey in 1852 (+-1) in Penrith if anyone is able to look this up in the parish records I'd really appreciate it.

I can't find it on GRO, I'm hoping it was overlooked/missed by them and it exists. I would like to know who is recorded as Jane's father and what his occupation was.

It's not the Joseph Story marriage in 1853. The bride in that marriage is Ann Knight.

To look up a marriage in parish records you have to know which church it took place in.

They may not have married.  Where are they in 1861?

Son John was b 1855 but is shown as 10 on 1861 census if i have found the right entry - Joseph not with family

Strange if they are the same family in Westmorland in 1871 as they show a daughter Sarah Jane who was born March qtr 1861 but is not on the 1861 entry

In 1861 Jane is 36 and is only 37 10 yrs later in 1871

There is a Jane Stockdale bap. 6 August 1834 at St. Andrew's Penrith  parents William and Deborah

1841 living at home with parents
1851 age 17 a servant for Edmondson family

I'm looking for the marriage so I can confirm her father and that she is the Jane Stockdale I've been looking for. My Jane had those parents you've mentioned.

In 1861 I have them in High Barton, Westmoreland with children William (7), John  (5) and Sarah Jane (2 months).

I have Jane as a servant in Hutton Soil, Penruddock, Cumberland in the 1851 census. I don't have Joseph but someone I have been chatting to who is researching Joseph's mother's line thinks he was raised by a relative. Their tree is private so I can't check on what they have. It hadn't really looked at where he was prior to 1861.

Oh and I'm not sure on the church. Jane herself was baptised in St. Andrews so I'm inclined to initially opt for that one.

There is no marriage on either freebmd or GRO.  It would be impossible to look up parish records as the church & year are unknown.

Also - as their first child was b Westmoreland you can't rule out the possibility of a marriage there.  However - the fact that the GRO index is not showing a marriage throws doubt on whether they actually married.  I checked Scotlands People in case they married in Scotland but there is nothing
