Elias Jarrett - bc 1801
« on: Sunday 22 September 24 12:25 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm looking for a baptism record for an Elias Jarrett, who married Ruth Knight in 1824 in Upchurch, Kent.

There is a death record in 1828 in Minster in Sheppey of an Elias Jarrett, aged 27 - at this point, I'm considering this to potentially be the same person, as Elias and Ruth's daughter was living with her grandmother in 1851.

At present, I can't link Elias further back, but think I may have found a family for him.  If anyone is able to find a baptism record for him, that would be amazing!

Many thanks,
Emma

Record is on FindMyPast...

Elias Jarrett bap 15 Nov 1801
Minster in Sheppey, Saints Mary & Sexburga
Father: Richard
Mother: Thomasine

Correction: Mother's name was Hannah, not Thomasine. I was relying on a transcription but looking at the image it actually says 'Hannah'. Makes sense because of the prior marriage of Richard Jarrett and Hannah Stroud on 10 Sept 1798 at the same church.

Hannah Jarrett (age 33) bur. 11 Dec 1805 at you know where

The words "by the coroners warrant" were crossed through.
Hard to know why they were written in the first place - the curate's record-keeping was a mess!

Thank you so much for this information.  Certainly a lot of interesting details.

Is there any evidence of a connection of Richard to Elias Jarrett 1776-1838?

Thanks again,
Emma
