Isabella Walker nee Cameron

Isabella Cameron was born on Lunga and I believe christened on 10 August 1788 at Cornaigbeg, Tiree, Argyll, Scotland.

She married David Walker and had 9 children (Mary was used twice) all in Renfrew.

She is my gg-grandmother.

I have noted she died in 1887 at age of 99 but did not record the proof or source and have not found her death on Scotland's People.  I need some help finding the death record.  The Tiree christening might be disputed too.

She was a spirit merchant.

This is what I have from censuses:
Low Gourock Road, Greenock West, Renfrewshire, Scotland (1841 Without Husband); 41 Eldon St., Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland (1851).  I believe David Walker the husband died in 1841.

If she is supposed to have died in 1887 she should be on the 1881 census.  What is the last census you have her on?

1851 is the last census I have.

Could you have mis transcribed 1887 instead of 1857?   If she is missing on 3 censuses she either remarried or died before 1861

 There is an Isabella Walker in the 1871 census for Greenock. Her age is 60 . She may be yours. I cant find her on the 1881 census.
There is  however  a death for an Isabella Walker in Greenock in 1885. Her age is 75.
These details are on Scotlands People and I dont have any credits at present to  investigate  any further.
  What is the source for the  information on Isabella's death her age and date?  Often family recollections are unreliable.  Good luck withyour search.  Regards Orkrad

Thanks.  I did have 6 credits left.  Isabella McMillan nee Walker does not seem to be related.  She married Angus McMillan butler.  Her father is David Walker and mother is Isabella McMillan.

In case it helps, there is a death record in Greenock for a Sarah Mackie 24th Aug 1877 aged 60 years. She’s wife of John Mackie. Address 5 John Street, Greenock.
Sarah’s parents are listed as David Walker, farmer deceased and Isabella Walker nee Cameron also deceased.
If it’s the same family, Catherine deceased by 1877.

Thanks for that info.  Sarah belongs to the same family.  I had her married to Alexander Ramsey.  Possibly this is a second marriage.  It is clear Isabella Walker nee Cameron died before 1877.

Sarah Ramsay death in 1880 aged 78 in Stevenson was widow of Alexander Ramsay (deceased). Her parents listed as William and Agnes Walker both deceased, posting in case it saves 6 credits for someone. Good luck in your search
