Hi,

I am needing help on tracing my Goodman ancestors back.

My 2 x Great Grandmother was Caroline Goodman born 1835 in North Crawley, Buckinghamshire.
I know her Father was John and mother was Elizabeth. According to the 1851 Census record John was born 1791 in North Crawley but I cannot locate any Baptism record for him. I believe he married Elizabeth Stapleton in 1826 but the marriage records state he was widowed.

I am looking for ny information on his first wife and also who his parents may be.

Looking at the family in 1841, all children are accounted for. First marriage may not have produced living children / the mother may have also died in childbirth...

Not that this is necessarily your John's wife...Having enough information prior to census makes for a tough nut to crack. I see a Sarah Goodman b. 1794 / died June 28,1818 / Buried July 3. 1818  North Crawley.

   However, cannot see a marriage to a Sarah that works, North Crawley or nearby prior to that date. Marriages can sometimes be in the bride's parish, which can be a distance. (Baptisms as well)

*adding: Found the burial listed in non-conformist records as well, so likely not as you'd not mentioned N.C.

John Goodman b. 1791 married Eliz Stapleton 1826 which matches the 1841 census

This tree has a Family Search entry with no attachment (tags) to the actual page result?
