Pirie family on 1861 census
« on: Tuesday 03 September 24 20:43 BST (UK) »
Hello,  I am struggling to find the Pirie family in the 1861 census.  James Pirie (b. 1828 - d. 1883) a cooper, married Eleanor Hughes (b. 1830 - d. 1899) on 23rd June 1849 and by the 1861 census they had 5 living children -Eleanor b. 1850, James b. 1852, Matilda b. 1855, Eliza b. 1856 and Alice b. 1861.  I have them on the 1851 census at Ropemakers Fields in Limehouse and in 1871 at 8 Barchester Street, Tower Hamlets, but despite searching I can't find them on the 1861 census.  On the 1858 London Electoral Register they are at Bromley Street, Tower Hamlets, suggesting that the family were in London in 1861.  Can someone find them in 1961?

The person who transcribed those birthplaces needs to go to Specsavers.   :P

Just saying….  It is very easy to read a word if you know what it is supposed to say.

Thanks to you all for your help and I thought I'd tried various combinations of the children, with birth dates, surname variations etc, so not sure why I missed it.
