WW1 Soldier's records
« on: Sunday 01 September 24 15:48 BST (UK) »
Hi. I have recently purchased a large coloured For King and Country roll of honour chart, primarily to reuse for my own grandfather.  However, I would appreciate it if someone can look up details of the original recipient. His photo suggests say born circa 1895, but his name is PRIVATE ERNEST WOOD, 7810, 1st West Yorkshire Regiment.  Many thanks !   Regards, Mike.

I think this man's number is 4/7810 and his service record appears to be one of many which has not survived. He enlisted 8/1/1913 and was discharged because of wounds 30/9/1917 ( as per Silver War Badge List ). The back of his medal card notes that he applied for his 1914 Star and gives a correspondence address : 7 Barkston Place, Croydon Place, Leeds. At some point it appears his medals were up for sale :

Many thanks Christine. As I live in Leeds, I may look for any relatives first. Kind Regards, Mike.
