Mario F. Galli birth 1900'ish
« on: Sunday 01 September 24 13:41 BST (UK) »
Trying to find anything on this chap. I know he married in 1925 (London) to  a Ida Mary Fantoni (sp) and they had a daughter in 1926 Josephina Natalina Enza Galli.
The marriage did not last as Ida went on for two other marriages (1943 & 1945, and i have all those details.
Mario just seems to disappear, not only can I not find birth details for him, although I am lead to believe that he was born in the UK, I can not  find death details either.
There is a strong Italian connection from the Lake Maggiori area. There is also a rumour that he died in Paris during the war, where he may have been running a hotel (conjecture only, no facts to support this).
Thanks for any help with this one
Richard

I've had a quick look at FreeBMD. but nothing stands out for a birth registration.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Daughter appears to have changed her name in 1946 (London Gazette)

I think to middle initial for Mario may be  for Felice.

Their daughter's  1st name may  actually be "Guisephina" , but again no facts to support this.
If he lived in London no census backs that up.  Could he  also have been an illegal immigrant and left  before the daughter was born.  It was the daughter who passed down what few details we have to go on.

Who did he name as his father on the marriage certificate?

What address was given on the marriage certificate?

It will also give his occupation.

The marriage cert has been ordered, so hopefully some answers will be there. Their daughter has long passed so it is not possible to verify the details I have.  As her mother Ida married at least twice more, she never knew her father or to my knowledge ever met him.
So its a bit like chasing a ghost.

Thanks everyone for looking.

Richard
