Edith May Tong

This lady married in 1920 at Winchester to William Tring Sapsed. She was 27 years old. In 1938 there was a marriage to William Tring Sapsed of Eileen Annie Corby at Bournemouth.
I cannot find a death record for Edith between 1920-1938.
What happened to Edith to enable William's second marriage? Was it legal?
Any assistance greatly appreciated. David

so one of her executors also had the surname Tong which adds weight to the death record being the right one.

The date on the divorce file at National Archives is 1937, however it was listed in the newspapers 8 Feb 1938:
" Probate, Divorce and Admiralty Division ... Sapsed E M v Sapsed W T"
   Tuesday,  Feb. 8, 1938

Possibly February 1938 was when the divorce was absolute
