I don't think that this the family/Hector that I am looking for.
This Hector seems to be an exact match for your original question (son of George S and Jean M(a)cLeod, baptised in 1808), so why do you think he isn't the one you are looking for?

Am I right in thinking that that you are looking for a Hector Sutherland who emigrated to Australia? If so, when did he emigrate? Was he accompanied by a wife and family, and if so what were their names and approximate dates of birth?

BTW never, ever, trust anything you find in an online tree, especially on Ancestry, MyHeritage and umpteen other commercial web sites. Just because there are multiple trees with the same information doesn't mean they are correct; they could all be people who have just copied information from one tree with an error.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

There are two Hector Sutherlands in north-west Sutherland in 1841.

One, age given as 35, in Achnahuaigh with wife Margaret and several children. Adults' ages in 1841 were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 years, so he would have been born in 1801/1806. Number 1 is still in Durness in 1851, 1861, 1881 and 1891, described as a grocer, born in Durness, with wife Margaret and several children. It looks as if he died in Durness in 1891 aged 85, mother's maiden surname Morrison.

The second, age given as 30, in the household of James Campbell and Jane Sutherland, so he was born 1806/1811. He is described as a pensioner, which at that time meant that he was retired from the army, so I think you can be pretty sure that he is the on with the military service record.
