Dorset Family History Society’s Monthly Meeting
« on: Saturday 24 August 24 14:55 BST (UK) »
Tuesday 17th September 2024, 7.30 - 9.00pm (Doors open from 7pm)

Dorset Family History Society will be hosting a meeting at St George's Church Hall, Darby’s Lane, Oakdale, POOLE, Dorset, BH15 3EU with a talk by STEVE ROBERTS entitled ‘WHEN DORSET MADE HISTORY’.

This is a new talk from Steve and in his words, “It will be a fast-paced romp through Dorset’s history from prehistoric times to today with all the major events featured in the correct order (the kind of thing they just don’t teach in schools anymore). Think of it as a colourful, fun and action-packed rampage through the occasions when Dorset made headlines. Although there’ll be some familiar stories they’ll also be many unexpected gems which will leave you with a better appreciation of this county’s rich history”.

Steve Roberts was born in Worcester, trained at Birmingham and taught at Brighton, Southend and Uxbridge before his first career change to Insurance and ultimately as an IT Project manager. In 2012 he became a freelance writer, private tutor and public speaker.  Dorset Family History Society has previously hosted his talks on ‘Dad’s Army’ and ‘Mr Selfridge – fact or fiction’.

Please note some of Dorset FHS's Meetings are held by Zoom to enable those further afield to attend.

Also please check members E-news or the website www.dorsetfhs.org.uk should there be any last minute changes.
