Help please with Plot No. at Holy Cross Cemetery
« on: Thursday 22 August 24 15:17 BST (UK) »
I have been given a Plot Number for relatives buried in Holy Cross Cemetery Wallsend.
The Grave is in the Roman Catholic Section. Numbered 2744.
I have looked on a map of the Cemetery but the number doesn’t make sense to me.
Anyone able to help please?
Thank you
Margaret

Hello Margaret  :)

Is this the plan you've seen? https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2228865/holy-cross-cemetery#view-photo=161156101

The plot number you've been given will be somewhere within the Roman Catholic Sections which are numbered 26, 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35 on the plan.

The Cemetery is managed by North Tyneside Council. I imagine that they will have more detailed plans which would show exactly where each burial plot is situated within those larger sections.

Hello Jen, thank you so much for your reply. Yes that is the Plan I looked at.
Didn’t really make sense to me the plot number I was given.
But, maybe I shall get in touch with North Tyneside Council to see if they help in locating the grave of my gr uncles.
I know there is no engraved headstone for John and Charles O’Neill.
But, there is a third person buried in the plot with the name of Anthony Gannity buried 1971. So I may be lucky if he does have a Headstone. Fingers crossed.
Best wishes
Margaret

Are you looking for the grave location so that you can visit it... or do you hope to find out what is recorded about your relatives in the Burial Register?

If the latter, I'd be happy to check the Holy Cross Burial Register for you when I next visit the Local Studies Centre in North Shields (some time in the next week), as they have a copy of it there.

What is it about the plot number that doesn't make sense?

Hi Jen,
I couldn’t connect the no. 2744 which I was given for the plot without the section letter or number. So it was difficult to locate where on earth it was.
Does that make sense.

Hello Sandra, yes I would like to be able to visit their grave location.

I was in Wallsend last week visiting my sister and we walked around the cemetery. Paying our respects to many family relatives. But couldn’t locate my gr uncles grave.
Thank you for replying

If Sandra can look at the register that should also contain the appropriate section number.
But without some guidance as to the number system within each section it's going to be very difficult for you.
