I don't think there is an S at the end.

The writer seems to end many words he writes with a curly flourish which is not S.
e.g.Aberdeen

I agree, not "s" at the end. I think possibly "Janet".

There are lots of harbour reports in newspapers with “Janet, Aberdeen” – what period is this?
Boyd, Dove, Blakey, Burdon
