Ancestry.co.uk How Related
« on: Tuesday 20 August 24 15:54 BST (UK) »
On each person's profile page, I am sure there was a button to click on, that would show how I was related to that person.

Where has it gone or is there a different method now.

A confused Chris ???

Help appreciated.

I think you have to set a "Home" person.
Then all relationships refer to this person.

Look at Tree Settings.

Top right corner pen symbol for edit
Choose edit relationship and you can choose biological
Step adopted foster or other

Spanner tool icon can be used to merge 2 profiles of same person
Children often appear twice as child of bio parent and the step parent you have to cancel relationship to avoid false suggestions

I use the green tag option & customise some tags such as married after child's birth or adopted.

Your tips will definitely come in handy, especially the tags.
Thank you

Within Ancestry the new Pro Tools has a Tree Checker feature which may be useful.

Chris you're welcome
I find tagging twins helps because it can help understand high DNA matches useful to know when find baptisms of children on same day
Or listed on census rounded up to same year  if they are really twins or close aged siblings

Biggles I'm persuaded now that pro tools will be worth trying
Have to wait for subs renewal tho

I link my tree to Roots Magic that has a tree checker, currently working through:
Parents Married before child
Born after baptism
Born after a parent's death
Fathers under 16 when child born
Mothers child born over 50
Born after burial
etc.

It seems to work well, also gives access to everything that is stored on Ancestry locally, including documents, images etc.
