help please with marriage for Richard Hunt circa 1817, Limerick
« on: Saturday 17 August 24 20:21 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'd be very grateful for any help with the following:

I know that Richard Hunt was a tailor and his Death Notice appeared in the Limerick Chronicle on 31/8/1842, which mentioned that his son John was going to take over the business.
I wonder if John was the John Hunt baptised in St Michael's, RC, Limerick on 21/11/1818, with parents Richard Hunt and Margaret Ryan, so please can anyone help me to find this marriage for Richard Hunt and Margaret Ryan?

Thanks,

Kit

Richard had a daughter Anne died 28/08/1848 at her mother’s home North Strand.
Is there a baptism for an Anne to that couple.
Also a possible daughter Sarah died 1850.

I can’t see the son named as John in Richard’s obit just ‘his eldest son’

Thanks for your reply Sinann.

There was an ad in the Limerick Chronicle 26/10/1842, which states that John has taken over the business of his father, Richard; Thomas-street is mentioned as the address, so I know that he was Richard's oldest.

Also, I think that this might be John's mother's Death Notice:
Limerick Chronicle 21/2/1824:
Yesterday in Thomas-street, the wife of Mr Richard Hunt, Merchant Tailor.

I think that this is Richard's second marriage:
Limerick Chronicle on 3/11/1827:
Mr Richard Hunt , of Thomas Street, merchant-tailor, to Bridget, daughter of Mr Thomas Ryan, Grocer and Spirit merchant, Mary Street.

But, assuming that the above is correct, I cannot find Richard's first marriage!

Parish register says he married Sarah Ryan, not Bridget.

Thanks so much for that Wexflyer - it's brilliant!

Please, does anyone know if there were any records of burials kept?

Also, I believe that the Anglican records are being digitised. Does anyone know when these might be available?

Thanks,

Kit

There is a marriage of another Richard Hunt back in 1759. Possible grandfather of the 1817 Richard?
