Quote;
In 1834, at daughter Harriot's baptism, Father, Victor, is a shoemaker (his father and brother are variously cordwainers/shoemakers - their description)

Did this child die?

Harriet Rebecca Mady was bapt    6 Jul. 1840, Father a Waiter***

Cant see any connection to John Mady 1783 Hampshire, Shoemaker.
Most Census he is Moody.

Hi Trish,
like many other families at the time, we weren't very creative with names. Two, Harriets : Harriet Rebecca MADY passed JUNE 1912 • Yorkshire West Riding. Pretty full life (married name Jones and a brilliantly named daughter Dido Boadicea).
Harriet Rebecca Madit (pre name change) unfortunately passed aged 2 in 1835.
Both: father Victor Madit/Mady and mother Harriott Franciss

Ok thanks nothing unusual for a child to be named after another that has died.
Cant see that bapt on line though so that is why I queried it :)

Signing out now late here in QZ, back tomorrow.
