Edward John Pilcher - why no GRO records ?

According to the Probate Index, this person died 6/7/1941 in London and that is that. Cannot see a GRO record of this death - or any other record apart from electoral rolls, including 1939 Register. He died Bayswater and there is a John Edward Pilcher who dies Paddington  Sept quarter 1941 aged 79. Could this be him though he is Edward on electoral rolls ?

Looking at the Kensington address on the 1939 register, there is a John E PILCHER, widower, resident with an 1862 DoB.  That would fit with the death you've found.  It seems he may have gone by both forenames.

I've not checked out the Bayswater address, but if not a hospital or infirmary or similar, it may be the address of a son or dau.

1939 register he is down as John E with a July birth month. I would think the 1941 death is correct, it could, as mentioned, be prefered interchangeable or whoever registered the death mixed his names.
