Thanks to all of you, it's much appreciated. I can see it's Brighton now between the two piers. I had no idea my grapndpaprents holidayed in Brighton back then, they usually went to Kent, so it was a surprise.

The colourised photo is lovely, thank you for doing that.

By the way, the name of the hotel (currently called the Harbour Hotel) that you can almost make out in the background of the photo of your granddad in his swimming costume is 'HOTEL VICTORIA', if you search online you will find images to corroborate that, newspaper references indicate that it operated under that name at least into the 1920s.

Thanks for the info. I think it is my mum as a baby in the photo with the pram so that would date it circa 1938 so it would fit in with what you say. I don't know where they stayed in Brighton but it could have been that hotel.
