Looking for any information regarding the marriage of John Ryley to Elizabeth williams on 26th Nov 1795- Wistaston/nantwich - any Bondsman/Banns/witnesses etc.

Their son John was baptised just 3 months later in the same place on 10th Feb 1796.

Thank you

The image for the marriage entry is available on FindMyPast.

John was a Bachelor and a Miller by trade.  Elizabeth was a Spinster, both of this parish.  The marriage was by Licence granted on the day (26 November 1795) by the Rector, William Morgan.  John signed and Elizabeth made her mark.  Witnesses:  John Nixon and Catherine Roberts.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you so much for that information.

I was rather hoping that I could find a brother Edward for John - which may have shown up in the witnesses or maybe a bondsman- but still no luck in the elusive search for Edward Ryley- a miller in the area of Wistaston from mid 1780s to around 1815.

I must surely find him mentioned somewhere!

The Ryley family at Buckley Mill is temptingly close to Wistaston to meet the criteria yet I cannot find a birth/baptism for either John or Edward between 1766 and 1771 yet i have the baptism of 2 possible sisters - Hannah and Jesse.
Any ideas?

Thank you - yes- I have now found a baptism for his son John in 1793in Coppenhall - Jesse married Sarah. However, Jesse is described as a labourer on the baptism record for their son John - so really not sure if I have got the right thread in my hunt for Edward Ryley - also a miller in Wistaston. - just so very temptingly close!
Edward Ryley married Frances Bourne in 1793 and their first child also called Frances was baptisd in Coppenhall before the later children being baptised at the non conformist in Wistaston. So so close in so many ways- just cannot find something conclusive!
Edward and Frances later move to Oakley Mills near Market Drayton and become very successful as a miller and a flour agent.
I think Jesse and Sarah later move to Manchester.

Thank you for all your help - yes the Atcherley information is very good indeed going forward re descendants but it starts 1 generation forward of my research. I am researching the father of Edward Ryley(born 1797). Edward Ryley snr was born c 1769/1770 and married Frances Bourne at Norton in the Moors. I know Edward (born 1769/1770) was a miller in the Wistaston area - his children with Frances were baptised in Coppenhall then on the Nantwich registers before the family moved to Oakley Mill, Betton, Salop - Frances Bourne had a lot of farming family in that area.

I have been unable to find a baptism for Edward (born c 1769/1770)- and am also trying to trace back his parentage - so I am looking at the ownership and tenancy of all the working water and corn mills in the area at the end of 1700s to maybe find a family link somewhere!
Buckley Mill in Woolstanwood is coming very close - but just cannot find Edward in any document anywhere during his time raising his family in Wistaston- close to woolstanwood. Once he and Frances arrive at Oakley Mill at Betton his life is quite well documented. He was brought back to the Bourne family graves at Wybunbury in 1838- the inscription states he died in his 69th year- and his wife Frances joined him a year later when she died in 1839.

It is a very protracted piece of research and one possible scenario is that he was maybe the brother of John Ryley of Buckley Mill- I have looked at Land Tax assessments, marriage oaths and various 'out of the box' thinking- but nothing as yet!

Still on the trail! Nil Desperandum!
