Thank you for all your help - yes the Atcherley information is very good indeed going forward re descendants but it starts 1 generation forward of my research. I am researching the father of Edward Ryley(born 1797). Edward Ryley snr was born c 1769/1770 and married Frances Bourne at Norton in the Moors. I know Edward (born 1769/1770) was a miller in the Wistaston area - his children with Frances were baptised in Coppenhall then on the Nantwich registers before the family moved to Oakley Mill, Betton, Salop - Frances Bourne had a lot of farming family in that area.
I have been unable to find a baptism for Edward (born c 1769/1770)- and am also trying to trace back his parentage - so I am looking at the ownership and tenancy of all the working water and corn mills in the area at the end of 1700s to maybe find a family link somewhere!
Buckley Mill in Woolstanwood is coming very close - but just cannot find Edward in any document anywhere during his time raising his family in Wistaston- close to woolstanwood. Once he and Frances arrive at Oakley Mill at Betton his life is quite well documented. He was brought back to the Bourne family graves at Wybunbury in 1838- the inscription states he died in his 69th year- and his wife Frances joined him a year later when she died in 1839.
It is a very protracted piece of research and one possible scenario is that he was maybe the brother of John Ryley of Buckley Mill- I have looked at Land Tax assessments, marriage oaths and various 'out of the box' thinking- but nothing as yet!
Still on the trail! Nil Desperandum!
