What's confusing me is your repeated reference to "an ancestor"?

Dictionary definition of "ancestor" is:
a person who was in someone's family in past times
or
a person, typically one more remote than a grandparent, from whom one is descended.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Yes sorry wrong term used , sorry , it’s a living relative, the grand daughter of Dorothy Coley ( Lily Coleys sister)

Dorothy gave birth to Barbara ( the woman on the far left of the photo in this post) Barbara gave birth to Carol ( it’s Carol and her husband that I’m communicating with)

Just spoke to the relative , he thinks William John Green and John William Coley must be two different people in the family. Lily’s youngest child was Reggie ( born when Lily and William Green were not married and she was approx 19) I have other siblings for Reggie but none are John William coley

A living relative has sent me a photo ( attached ) of who he remembers as “uncle bill and florrie” but he says it was taken on their  50th wedding anniversary to Florence.

Does he really think that this looks like a couple who have been married for 50 years?  If they had been married for that long they would be in their 70s at the youngest.

On the photo,  the living relative says that uncle bill should be 31 years older than the woman on the far left 😬 but certainly doesn’t look it . He wrote :

In the photo with Carol's mom, Uncle Bill looks a good bit older than her but is he 31 years older?

No, he is getting Barbara mixed up with her mother who was born in 1905.  If this is Barbara in the photo then she was born in 1930.

He would have been about 93 when we went to their Golden Wedding party just after Barbara died. Possible I suppose.

Barbara died in 1991 so whoever was having a 50th anniversay would have been married around 1941 and probably born in the 1910s.

I think the two of you might have a communication problem  ;D

The man in the photo is the same person as the younger photo you have in your Ancestry tree of John William COLEY, older brother of Dorothy and uncle to her daughter Barbara.

It is obvious that this photo was not taken in the 1990s, and I think that you will find that it is Dorothy on the left, not her daughter, and the man is Dorothy's brother William/John who was 6 years older.

And the death is:
John William Green 1/1995 Worcester Reg B53E District 5271B Entry 167 (DOB 13 Oct 1931)

The marriage will be harder without some sort of date range and/or some indication of her surname

Administration 20 Feb 1995, Oxford
John William Green of 185 Tudor Way Dines Green Worcester
Died 8 January 1995

Is he on the electoral registers with Beryl J Green?
Marriage, March 1954 Worcester 9d 766
John W. Green + Beryl J. Field

Maybe
Beryl Joyce Field, born June qtr 1933 Worcester
Beryl Joyce Green, born 1933, died Q3/2008, Worcestershire

Seems there’s also William John Green 1931-1995 in the family 😂 he may have been married to Florence

More likely to Beryl.

Family rumour says she was Malaysian.

On this thread she was supposed to be from Malta ::)
