Pulling hair out , need directing to reference number to obtain cert
« on: Saturday 03 August 24 13:16 BST (UK) »
Helllp, I just can’t find it

I am trying to locate the death , birth cert and marriage cert ref numbers so I can order copies of the certs relating to :

John William Coley

B:13 Oct 1931 Burghill, Asylum, Ledbury, Herefordshire, England
D: jan  1995 Worcester, Hereford and Worcester, England

John was apparently married to Florence ( Florrie) who was from Malta.  We have no details whatsoever for her. All cards were signed “bill & florence coley”

A living relative has sent me a photo ( attached ) of who he remembers as “uncle bill and florrie” but he says it was taken on their  50th wedding anniversary to Florence.

I have sent the photo to my fiancés relatives and they confirm the photo is of “uncle bill and Florence”

But the living relative  says it’s confusing as he’s sure uncle bill died at the age of 93 ish ( ancestry suggests 64)

On the photo,  the living relative says that uncle bill should be 31 years older than the woman on the far left 😬 but certainly doesn’t look it . He wrote :

In the photo with Carol's mom, Uncle Bill looks a good bit older than her but is he 31 years older? He would have been about 93 when we went to their Golden Wedding party just after Barbara died. Possible I suppose.

For info his parents were
William Green
B:2 Jun 1898 Bosbury, Herefordshire, England
D:1965 Ledbury, Herefordshire, England

Annie  Elizabeth coley ( known as Lily )
B:21 Aug 1896 Ledbury, Herefordshire, England
D:4 Sep 1936 Ludlow, Shropshire, England
Can anyone unpick this can of worms 😬

I believe it should have been as his parents were married, but all his cards he signed said Coley.

Perhaps he had a falling out with his dad and took his mothers side of the family name ?

I agree with the birth being:
William J Green 12/1931 Hereford Vol 6a p637 mother maiden name Coley

And the death is:
John William Green 1/1995 Worcester Reg B53E District 5271B Entry 167 (DOB 13 Oct 1931)

The marriage will be harder without some sort of date range and/or some indication of her surname
Richardson, Sherman, Gillam, Hitchcock, Neighbour, Groom, Walton, Strange, Littleford, Brown, Guy, Abbs, Tasker, Bartlett, Farey, Etteridge

Thank you , I’ve put the order in for the birth cert 👍🏻 it unhelpful that many of the relatives used variations of their actual name, or didn’t use their name at all

And what’s really confusing is that the ancestor that’s messaging me says uncle bill and Florence were married for 50 years , which means they got married at 14! Yet they confirm the photo shows uncle bill and Florence

I think that’s the entry saying “ widower” Lily died in 1936 in Burghill asylum 😢 William remarried in 1941
