hello,in the 1939 english census,Mary was living with Henry Arnott in Moels Cheshire.Can anyone help me with who she was.She was staying with Henry and his wife.Thank you in advance,tom

1939 shows her as Mary Best McDevitt with a birth date of 9 August 1928.

There is a marriage between Mary Best and John H McDevitt in Liverpool S registration district in December quarter 1950.  The 1939 register image indicates a date of 23 December.

There is a birth registration in September quarter 1928 in Liverpool RD, with mother's maiden name of  Burns.

Marriage registration - West Derby RD, June quarter 1926 - Frederick Best and Emily Burns.

Thank you very much for your quick reply .Would any of the parents ,the Bests or MCDevitts worked on the Liverpool docks.I know its a lot to ask but I was just trying to find out what the connection is between her and the Arnotts,thank you for your time,tom

Frederick Best - age 24, General Labourer.  Father:  John George Best, General Merchant
Emily Burns - age 20.  Father:  Edward Burns, Carter

The 1950 marriage is too recent to be available online.

Trees on Ancestry have Mary McDevitt dying in Widnes - 4 August 1963.  FreeBMD have the registration in September quarter 1963 - Prescot RD - aged 34.

Mary appears to be their only child at that stage so do you think she may have been evacuated from Liverpool and the ARNOTTs were not related in any way?

Thank you Dundee and Bumble B,it could have been that Mary was evacuated there because of the war.I can only think of one other possibility,that Mary was related to Henry's wife's family.I think her family were from the area.Thank you both for your time,tom

Hello again,do you think that Marys surname is Best or McDevitt,I do not understand in the census,that the name Best is crossed out which is confusing for me.Can I ask your professional opinion,thank you in advance,tom
