Jonty Harrison
« on: Friday 26 July 24 21:23 BST (UK) »
Trying to find a death date for a distant relative. His name was Jonty? Harrison and he was last known to have lived in Crawcrook UK back in the late 1960’s.  Definitely 1968.  He resided at Garden House Estates.  Not sure if Jonty was his official name but we think he was born sometime in the 1920’s.  Any help would be appreciated

Crawcrook appears to be Gateshead, Durham?

It's possible that Jonty was his given name, but it was also a nickname for Jonathan. If he was a John, I think you might be more spoiled for choice. Finding his birth entry for his official name and year of birth might help you.

I do feel inclined to ask if you know for certain that he's no longer alive? It's not likely, but the sister of one of my ancestors has just become a centenarian.

Crawcrook is listed as Ryton on Tyne Newcastle but could be Gateshead as it’s not too far.  Im pretty certain he’s no longer around as I think my mother heard he died several years ago.  Could be Jonathan but everyone called him jonty.  If he’s alive, he’s vanished

OK. I'm not seeing anything obvious at the moment.

Lets see if we can pin down his birth to get that info to use finding the death. What was his mother's maiden name? I'm assuming it probably took place in Durham or Northumberland?

(Also, if it was "several years ago" in a literal sense, it might be hard to find the death entry as it would be too recent for most online databases)

OK. I can see he married her mother (1943) as Jonathan HARRISON, so there's that.

None of those trees seem to include spouse or children, which is our known information  :-\

Edit- the online probate index unfortunately doesn't give any useful information. That said, I've just had a hint for Jonty's wife suggesting her date of birth might have been 1913.

Mackemyank, is her death known? It's not impossible that Jonty married an older woman, but if she was older than you suspect, so might he have been.

I’m kind of lost now.  Looks like that branch of the tree has been cut.  The only ones who would remember any more info are gone now 😑
