His hair is quite thick, and receding rather than balding, and it's only his beard that's significantly white or grey. His face does look rather lined and craggy, but that could be a result of working outdoors. On balance, I think he's more likely to be around 50-60 than 70-80.

The first photo, of the woman, aren't those numbers on her collar?
Member of something like the Salvation Army?

Hi, just a question. Do you know who the first photograph is. I would say the man could possibly be 60 which would put him born in the 1830’s. With the second photo being his father?

It doesn't really look like Salvation Army headgear.... and their collar insignia is usually just "S.A.", I think. What you're seeing might be just decoration on the collar, or a necklace that's half in, half out.

Unfortunately, all the backs are blank. It is quite strange.

He was a railway employee according to the death certificate I have provided it is the person I think it is.
However, not sure if that means he worked outside or inside

The mystery of exploring family continues

I am unsure completely who the individuals are in the first photo.
It was in my great-great grandfather's album.
The 2 photos are in different albums and thus suspect they are from two different sides of the tree

That would depend on what kind of railway employee he was. Clerk, station master etc - mostly inside. Track maintenance - outside. Porter - some of each. Engine driver/other footplate worker - more or less outside and exposed to heat and fumes etc, which wouldn't do a lot for a chap's complexion.
