Marriage Certificate for Daniel Robert Macdonald (1871-1940) - India

Good evening forum,

May I ask a question about British India marriage certificates? Most of the records I needed I found on ancestry, but for some reason Daniel Robert Macdonald's marriage to Jane (unknown maiden name) is missing. I have DR Macdonald's birth and death certificates and all the records for his parents etc, but cannot find one for Daniel & Jane. It's a shame as their daughter Helen Jane Macdonald is my great-grandmother.

Is there a special place (like a British India archive) I can email to search for the marriage certificate, as I'd really love to find Jane's maiden name!

The British India Office archive is held by the British Library.  Original images of birth, marriage and burial registers are available on FindMyPast.  The records are however incomplete and I don't see a marriage for your relatives.

When I look at their website it says you have to be a member to undertake a search. This seems a bit much for one record. Everything else concerning my family's time in India has been completed, it's just this one wedding record I wanted to find out her maiden name.

Hi, I know I've looked at a previous request of yours but cannot remember what it was for. As a matter of interest was Daniel registered as Daniel ROBIN with parents Alexander & Jane in 1871.

Hi, yes, that's correct it should be Daniel Robert Macdonald (but it was often written Robin). He married Jane Louisa (maiden name rather frustratingly unknown). She lived between 1877-1945.
