Looking for info on the Lannon/Lennon family.
« on: Wednesday 17 July 24 18:55 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I am looking for information on the Lannon or Lennon family. I've been doing Ancestry research and was able to connect with a distant relative in Graignamanagh. So far, I have traced my lineage back to Patrick Lannon/Lennon, who was born in Graignamanagh around 1812 and died around 1897. His son, Andrew, came to the U.S. around 1865. Patrick is buried in the Abbey in Graignamanagh. I am wondering how I can find any more information about him, or potentially find out who his father is.

Interesting. How do you know that Jeremiah is his actual name? I am not able to find that in the tithe appointment book.

Jeremiah the name will not show in the tithe records, Darby is just the name Jeremiah's use.
Like Bridget sometimes is Delia,  in the USA Delia is changed to Della.
Just one of those things!

Darby was usually a nick name for people with Christian name Jeremiah.

Hi

Maggsie is correct when she wrote ‘Darby is just the name Jeremiah's use.’
I have often seen examples of this too.
