Sarah may not have died, if they separated, he waited seven years before remarrying.

Have you checked the Sarah Ann Adley who married Portsea 1869.

I will get a copy of Thomas Audley's death certificate

I cannot find a copy on any website I have access to giving the details of the  the marriage of  Sarah Ann Adley in 1869

I will follow up both your suggestions
