Port Elizabeth birth/death search
« on: Tuesday 16 July 24 07:03 BST (UK) »
Hi , David Gordon Forbes (Storeman) married Jane Elizabeth Jones/Wood in 1861,Port Elizabeth . He died suddenly in 1863 and it stated that Jane his wife was "in the family way" (pregnant). I can not find any info on births or infant deaths with Jane  . I have tried for a few months to navigate the South African records but no luck .is there any tips on an easier path ?
Also were there census records for 1861 Port Elizabeth ?
 thank you Melanie

You may have already seen this on Family Search, but when Jane Elizabeth Aldag died the Cape Province Probate Record dated 24 Feb 1897 states:  No children of  2nd marriage with David Gordon Forbes living.

Have you considered that there may have been a miscarriage or stillbirth.

Yes I believe that was her listed . But if the infant was stillborn or a miscarriage I thought I might find a record . Thank you all for your help , it is too bad there are no census records tho .
