Unfortunately I don't think that my Joseph Jefferson is the same Joseph Jefferson who married Hannah Marks on 02/02/1797 and who was the father of the aforementioned Hannah and Isaac. I think that he is more likely to be the Joseph Jefferson who married Sarah Wilson 22/05/1802. Sarah died in 1804 and I can find no further trace of Joseph, after Sarah's death, with any certainty, after her death. Possibly married Hannah Barnes on 26/12/1807 but am struggling to verify this.

The parish entry for Joseph Jefferson and Hannah Barnes marriage at Aikton says that Hannah was of the parish and a spinster and Joseph was from Wigton.  After "Joseph Jefferson of the parish of Wigton" which I would have thought it would have said batchelor/widower, but it looks to me like "surjourn", (temporary stay?). Could he be "your Joseph" and staying with family/friends in Wigton?

With regard to the "Jeffersons of Howe End", this seems to a well established and large family of the area, with many branches.  There's a few wills with the name and address and the CASCAT catalogue seems to have a few entry's.  While they maybe related there seems to be lots of info that would suggest they have been farming in the area for a long time, so I think you're right about Joseph Jefferson and Hannah Mark not being your Joseph.

Someone else has sent me a copy of marriage record between Joseph and Hannah Barnes. One of the witnesses is a John Jefferson and Joseph did have a brother John. Will be looking to compare signatures between the Joseph Jefferson who married Sarah Wilson and the Joseph Jefferson who married Hannah Barnes.

Unfortunately the signatures on the marriage records for the Joseph Jefferson who married Sarah Wilson and the Joseph Jefferson who married Hannah Barnes don't really look the same.
