Aldeburgh: Rowley House or Rowley Cottage?
« on: Thursday 11 July 24 09:11 BST (UK) »
I am hoping that someone with a bit of local history knowledge about Aldeburgh can help me to establish whether Rowley House and Rowley Cottage were one and the same place or two different properties. I have found reference to the fact that John Beart, grocer and draper, lived at Rowley House from circa 1837 to around 1860, although none of the census returns give the names of any of the properties, while Rowley Cottage, "a small marine residence," is part of a portfolio of properties auctioned off after his death in 1874.

1881: Martha Fish & family
1891 - 1911: Walter Orvis (or Orris) & family

Thank you, Shaun, that's incredibly helpful, as I've been going round in circles with this one.
