Signature on letter
« on: Wednesday 10 July 24 21:52 BST (UK) »
Would anyone care to have a go at the attached? It's the signature on a condolence letter sent in 1974 from Barnstaple, Devon. Who is the signatory? Thanks, Chris.

I was thinking it was Ducker, but yes, perhaps Tucker. I'm now looking for records based on Tucker. Having been largely unsuccessful with Ducker (or Ducken). Thanks.

The Western Evening Herald of 13-11-1991 reports the death of Harry James Tucker (d. 11-11-1991, aged 78). Amongst those listed is his daughter-in-law Philomena (wife of John).

Yes it probably is Tucker, but I thought that was the way we were told to write a Q. You live and learn, :)

Thanks for all the replies; very useful. I must admit I'm up against a brick wall to a certain extent. I thought the Philomena in question was born in the first decade of the 20th century. I have a full address, including postcode, from the letter that was written in 1975, but I've not been able to use that information to track down the family. Any ideas on the use of addresses from 50 years ago?

Of course. I was a bit reluctant to post what will almost certainly be someone else's address now, but I've attached a scan of it from the letter.
