Based only on known info above,

Harry James Tucker 12.2.1913-11.11.1991 married Nora Fishwick 23.9.1911-2005. Appear together in 1939 register with one redacted entry below.

A Tucker/Fishwick son born sq 1938 Plymouth, matches christian name of Philomena's husband.

Marriage of said son 1963 Stepney has wife with 2 forenames, P K or K P.

2002 electoral register in Essex has P K Tucker with J Tucker

There are several Tucker/H***** births in Essex who are probable children.

Thanks for looking into it. I'm struggling a bit with this one. The letter from Philomena (Dec 1974)  mentioned that her parents, but more significantly her husband, had already died. It looks, therefore, that the Essex Tuckers might be a different family. Unfortunately there is no further useful  information in the correspondence. Also, there are many people in Barnstaple with the surname Tucker listed in the various databases. I'll give it a bit more time, but it's peripheral to my main research; interesting nevertheless.

This might not mean anything, but there was a Tucker family in Chestwood Villas in 1942.

Thanks bbart, that could be relevant. The letter with the signature was in the possession of my mother (now deceased) for many years, and I'm told that the names 'Bill' and 'Jonty' (not known whether this is a man or a woman) may have had something to do with the family in question. Perhaps 'Bill' is the 'William' referred to in the cutting? I've not completely given up on this line of research, but it is proving difficult.

Edit: I've managed to find the Tucker family in 1911 and 1939, together with various BMD records for Charles William Tucker and Camellia Tucker, but I've not been able to find a Philomena Tucker as yet. Philomena, Camellia - similar names ... ?
