John Walter Longstaffe - India and County Durham
« on: Wednesday 10 July 24 14:35 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out as much as I can on John Walter Longstaffe.
I know that he served in India before and during the First World War with some records showing him as Army of India (or reserve army of officers in India). He was commissioned in 1917 and ended up a captain.
The reason that I have posted in the Durham thread is that a medal card shows his address in the middle 1920's as 7 Leyboune Terrace, Stockton on Tees.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

1911
at 3 Gt Titchfield Street, St Marylebone, London.
John Walter Longstaffe, head, 33, single, manager (grocer and wine merchant) b Stockton-on-Tees

Other occupants are a housekeeper and two grocer's assistants

The signature looks very much like that on the wedding record.

Many thanks for the new information. This is a great help and gives me some direction.

I believe that to see the public tree on Ancestry I would need a subscription?
