A Jessie M Thatcher married a Robert Sills, Dec qtr 1934, Liverpool South.

There is a Jessie M Sills, born 7 Sep 1908, husband Robert, at Southport on the 1939 Register. Southport links to the 1921 Census.

I’m going to recheck the SILLS marriage as I am not sure whether I could find the couple on the 1921 census.  I’m not going to have any time prior to the weekend (looking after grandchildren).

For info.

from Lancashire BMD  marriage 1934 Liverpool South, Register Office or Registrar Attended
Jessie M listed with two surnames WARD / THATCHER

It notes: Where the lady is remarrying and both her maiden name and former married name are on the entry in the register, then both are listed in the indexes.
It is not possible to tell from the indexes which is the maiden name.

It’s possible her maiden name might be Thatcher on Lancashire BMD a Thatcher Jessie M/ Ward marriage 1926

Not sure if this was posted

Jessie Mae Sills born 7 9 1908
Death quarter 3 Death year 1985 Birkenhead Cheshire

I think I might have to bite the bullet and order the marriage certificate, at least it will prove one way or the other.

She is most likely the one born in Oldham in 1908 mentioned earlier in this thread.

Do you know where Jessie's mother was in 1939?  I can see that her father has another woman living in the family home but I cannot see Lilian Kate anywhere.  Jessie's sister Margaret is with her maternal aunt Violet and husband Oscar WHEELER in Horsham and it looks like Lilian also died in Horsham in 1944.  I thought that perhaps she and Jessie might be together somewhere in 1939.

If Vera married John BISHOP in Brighton in 1931 then they are in Shoreham-by-Sea in 1939.

Lillian M (born 1 April 1904) and William HILL are in Tipton, Staffordshire in 1939.

However, there is also a Lillian M (born 1 April 1904) and William HILLS in Chanctonbury, Sussex in 1939.

Yes - that is my wife's maternal grandmother.  She emigrated to live with her daughter (by her second marriage) shortly after my wife and I married.
