The Gilmores
« on: Sunday 07 July 24 20:21 BST (UK) »
I’m trying to find out about my Grandmother Enid Lavinia Julia Watson ( she changed her name to Margaret Enid Watson) and moved to Canada with John william Gilmore where they married in 1923.They joined her Father in Canada who had already eloped with Alice hood leaving his wife.i have found from the 1931 Canada census that  they had 3 children in Canada in the years 1924 (a son now deceased), 1926 a daughter and 1928 another son. Enid Lavinia also had a son in 1917 in England before she met John william Gilmore who  was my Father, she gave him away when he was born.
There are a lot of postings about the Watson family on rootschat England but not about enid Lavinia so I am really trying to find out when she died and any information about her children that could help me
Thank you

It helps if you  say where in Canada they were. I found the 1923 marriage in Niagara Falls, Ontario-

Where did you find them in 1931?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The 1931 Canada Census has a Margaret Gilmore married to John William Gilmore with children Roy, Margaret, and Kenneth. They lived in Welland, Ontario. Is this the right family?
Delarue - Essex, Leicestershire
Rothery/Rothera/Rotheroe - Yorkshire
Barstow/Bairstow - Yorkshire
Crossley - Yorkshire
Barradell - Gloucestershire
Whitten/Whitton/Whittone - Scotland

In 1925, Margaret Enid & son Roy (aged 4 months)  travel home to England bound for 153 Beverley Road, Hull.   They travel back to Canada a couple of months later bound for 84 Glenholme Drive, Niagara Falls.

Oh that is interesting, strange no mention of Roy’s mother. If she had died you would have thought they would have said “ and the late mother Margaret”
