Hi Debra, where did you see that Margaret Rebecca was born in Bristol?  On the Record of Patients-Adelaide Hospital- it says she was born Yorkshire, no religion mentioned.

Hello Wivenhoe,
My Margaret Rebecca Fitzgerald (married in 1870 to John Fitzgerald) died in Nov 1878 so maybe Elizabeth was a relation.
Thanks,
Chris

Debra and I must be looking at the same record - I read Margaret FITZGERALD, 39, born Bristol, R/C, admitted 11 July 1878, discharged from hospital 18 July 1878.

Ah, I see the other record now - when she is admitted 9 September 1878 and discharged 29 September 1878, there is a ditto for Yorkshire as place of birth.

Ancestry have transcribed the entry which has place of birth "Bristol" as "Germany" (the entry on the line  below Margaret's).

She married FITZGERALD as Margaret Elizabeth, not Margaret Rebecca, so she might have just been making up middle names if she didn't originally have one.  The entry that Wivenhoe mentioned is for her - residence 10 years, ship Red Jacket, born Bristol.

The discharge on the 18 Jul 1878 has her birthplace as Bristol.  The discharge on 29 Sep 1878 has no birthplace but the person above her is Yorkshire.

More replies but will post anyway.

Debra  :)

Maddy and Debra, thanks for helping me.
I will attack again tomorrow, and search for that other admittance.

She became very unwell I think.

I do like "fleshing out" my rellies.
Bye for now
Chris
